Money is tight for lots of people these days. And we need all the help we can get.

When doing your holiday shopping (or any time of year) look for coupons to get a discount on your order or shipping. A great coupon site is http://www.retailmenot.com/

All members of the family have become vegetarians, we also grow food for consumption. I also applied for food stamps and skipped dining out. If we do eat out, we eat less, and we skip dessert... which makes us a whole lot healthier too, so not bad :-)
Make a list each time you go grocery shopping, check the cabinets and refrigerator to assess what is on hand. We make a menu for the following week and shop for the menu. In some cases, the menu shows that we really don't need to shop with the exceptions of a few basics such as milk, eggs and bread. Do not forget coupons, they have gotten better in selection and easier to use.
