The Evelope Budgeting System

If you're like most people, the idea of developing a budgeting plan - especially when money is tight in the first place - sounds like way too much work.

But I think you'll like this system.

It's simple.

• Get an envelope for each of your expenses.

• Then write the name of the expense on each envelope
  (car payment, house payment, student loan, cable TV bill, cell phone bill, etc).

• Then put enough money in each envelope to pay the bill.

• And when the bill comes, you make your payment with the money you've put in the envelope!

Or, if you don't want to be taking money out of the bank all the time, just "deduct" the money from your checking account, and write down the amount on the envelope ("$50 for cable TV", etc.) Same idea, but no need to work with cash.

By setting aside money for all your important expenses first - THEN spending what's leftover for other things - you'll learn how to manage your money a lot better. And improve your financial situation dramatically!

Using this envelope system is a very simple and effective way to get back in control of your money (and therefore get out of debt faster!) I know. You're probably thinking that putting money into an envelope won't help you get out of debt.

Maybe not.

But it will help you manage your money better. And it will help you from getting further into debt. And most importantly, it will help you put your money in the "right" place each month!
