Common Fraud Schemes
The FBI has become aware that unscrupulous mass marketers are using falsified FBI stationary and the names of FBI executives to solicit participation in fraudulent schemes. DO NOT BE FOOLED! The FBI does not EVER request advance fees for any reason from citizens, and most certainly not for the purpose of collecting processing fees or taxes for lottery winnings or monies recovered for any reason. We also do not use telephone numbers with an 866 or 888 area code for that purpose. Please read more on common fraud schemes, below, so you can protect yourself from these scams.
