Well, I did all of my own credit repair, and went from a complete mess, to a new car loan, a mortgage and - the ultimate proof that my credit is back to normal - getting a stack of pre-approved credit card offers (most for 0% interest) in my mail every day!
Below you can see exactly the types of bad credit I got removed from my credit report, and my wife's:

(Keep in mind that not all types of bad credit are reported to all 3 credit bureaus, so my numbers don't add up evenly - the point is to get the ones that are there removed!)
Repairing your credit is really not that difficult. Hey, if I can do it myself, so can anyone. Really. And you don't need to hire an expensive credit repair company to do it for you. All it takes is the right information (and some persistence!)
Get a free copy of your credit report.
Then, circle all the incorrect and negative items you need to have removed.
Next. write a dispute letter to each credit bureau requesting the negative items to be removed. It may take several tries.
Then, keep trying! You may not get results overnight. But if you keep trying, your credit will improve!
Finally, review your credit report every year!
